My fellowship is having a sex trafficking awareness week next week!
So why am I posting about it now? On my health and fitness blog? ‘Caaaause I can and it’s relevant. Sex trafficking causes a whole slew of global public health problems that effect us all in some way at some point in our lives. I can honestly say I had no idea what kind of industry this was until recently but the figures and facts are horrifying.
- There have been anywhere from 27 to 32 million people enslaved around the world in the past 30 years
- A study done by the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 showed that300,000 CHILDREN in the U.S are at risk for being sexually exploited for commercial use
- Girls as young as 5 and 6 years old can be trafficked
- Every 2 minutes a child is being prepared for sexual exploitation
- The total market value of illicit human trafficking is an estimated$32 BILLION

The bar code I have on me is to get people to ask “Hey! Why do you have the bar code on your neck?” so I start up conversations about this issue and I really encourage you all to do the same! Sex trafficking is the second largest criminal industry in the world and it isn’t brought to light as often as it should be, but you can help change that :)
This was over Spring Break! There’s nothing like running/finishing a run on the beach while the sun is rising :)
I’M BACK!
Wow things are different! On Tumblr and in life haha. It’s crazy that so many of you didn’t unfollow me and still found something useful on my blog - thank you! :)
The last 40 days have been truly AMAZING and I can talk about it so much more to keep things brief I’ll just bullet it into a couple categories. I’ve gotten healthier …
- Spiritually - connecting with your beliefs/religion is a beautiful experience! My faith has grown so much stronger and I’m so thankful for that. Yesterday for Easter service, Hebrews 11:40 stuck out to me: “God had planned something better for us so that only together with us they would be made perfect” I believe my goals, fitness related and not, will be even sweeter when they’re accomplished with Him by my side :)
- Mentally - it’s SO much easier to just be happy! I started keeping a small grateful journal and I write down 5 things I’m grateful for each and every day. The things can be small, like having a nice cup of tea when it’s cold, to a larger/general thing, like family. Nobody is worth you being upset, not even yourself! Things aren’t always how we’d like them to be but there’s always something to smile about :)
- Physically - I haven’t weighed myself (I will soon!) but I don’t think I’ve lost a significant amount of weight but I feel so much healthier. I used to be unable to go a mile without wanting to die and now I can go for 3 miles just to break a good sweat! I’m focusing on weight training and getting stronger for the summer :)
What have you guys all been up to?? I’ll be slowly getting back into the swing of things but I’d love to have you guys fill up my ask!
40 Day Hiatus!
Hey guys! I just decided that this year, I’m going to give up Tumblr for 40 days for lent. I really want to just step away and see how well I can do without constantly uploading and looking at pictures for motivation and I should really be focusing on school & other aspects of my life right now. I seriously wish ALL of you the absolute best on your journeys!! Hopefully I’ll be back better than ever in 40 days time :)

When someone accomplishes a difficult goal do you ever think they will think “Man, I wish I didn’t work that hard!!” ? Hell no!

Ran 2.4 miles straight right after my midterm and right before my next class :) Now time for more class!
AHHH I RAN 2.33 MILES STRAIGHT!
I’m sooooo happy! Haha, I took my coworker’s advice and decided not to focus on perfecting my 1 mile time and working on my endurance so I studied while on the treadmill (so the papers blocked my mileage) and ran for 30 mins straight :) That’s a 13:20 pace which isn’t awesome but as soon as I build up my mileage, I’ll start working more on my pace. Baby steps!
OHOH TMI probably but I have my unwanted monthly visitor so I really didn’t even want to go for a WALK since being in fetal position all day eating chocolate sounds so much better but I’m glad I got up & did something productive :)
Sorry for being less active than usual guys :( My first round of midterms starts tomorrow - eek! - so I haven’t been on as much. Still feel free to flood my ask though if you guys need anything :) I’ll update with new stuff soon!
